Initially, literature. Then branched out into mythologies and folklore, then the supernatural and esoteric. That was what got me my position as a researcher, then promoted to Archival work.

That makes you well-suited for being here, then. Particularly if you happened to study Japanese folklore as well. There is no Japan where I'm from, but I've gathered that this place is taken nearly entirely out of Japanese folklore.

The laws of science as I know them also apply. Honestly, it's exhausting. It's not as though I had a full view of even my own world's history, let alone this one.
But it's a necessary evil, if we're to understand the people that live here. I've been collecting some books on the matter, with varying degrees of success. You're welcome to borrow them if you like.
In fairness, you've rather had a lot on your plate between getting your bearings here, your unwanted job and promotion, and the assassination-kidnapping.
